The Viscount Trenchard was elected to sit in the House of Lords in 2004, having previously been a member between 1987 and 1999. He currently sits on the Industry and Regulators Committee, having previously been a member of the EU Financial Affairs Sub-Committee, the EU Services Sub-Committee and the European Affairs Committee. He is a co-chair of the APPG for Japan.
